Unhappy Unusual "overnight" no start continues , Update still need help.

My problem continues... History >>My 1998 S10 V6 , always ran great .. filled up gas tank, drove home parked in driveway, went away vacation for a week.... Truck sat for a week...came home Started truck engine rough ,drove short distance , seemed like not getting enough gas...........installed new fuel filter & flushed line, fuel pump has plenty of volume ...........ran great 2 days >> , no start resurfaces after sitting at night .so I check fuel pump via disconeecting filter.. seems ok, reassemble runs great all day...next mourning no start... I replace new filter , again ...runs great all day( many starts), EEK ,wont start next mourning.... I clean out throttle body & replace vac line to fuel pressure reg ..tighten various bolts ,check electrical contacts & disconnect fuel filter again ( 3rd time ) fuel pums sees ok...Starts instantly runs great 2 days ..drive 50 miles ..75 MPH smooth......yesterday no start again >>>> BUT if I dpresse pedal to floor while cranking ,,started but runs a little rough & but smoothed out, after a little driving, now after sitting overnight wont start even with pedal to floor...tied the reconnect & dicconect fuel line still wont start... check engine light on so i have a code.guess ill need to borrow a scanner.......

Its an OBD2 scanner. If you had the book it shows how to jumper pins and get the check engine light to flash a certain number of times to diagnose it without a scanner.

Think I willl stop screwing around & have AAA tow her to a mechanic, funny I rebuilt the engine in my 66 Corvette with out problems , can rebuild carburators & transmisions but cant figure out how to diagnose & repair my 98 S10.
The fuel pump is filling a container in a few seconds so the fuel situation is down stream or upstream maybe its a sensor .....she just spins/cranks ,now wont even even try to start now no matter what I do ....dam wish I could diagnos my problem. woe

Sounds to me like your fuel injectors are leaking down when engine is sitting for extended periods. In turn ,when you try to start the engine,it is flooded. Thus the initial rough start ,then the smoothing out as the air/fuel mixture meters properly. When you push the accellerator during the start, you are not giving the engine more gas because it has electronic injection. But you ARE allowing more air through the throttle body, which helps to stabilize the fuel mixture enough for combustion to take place. There are tests to be performed to pinpoint this problem, however,if you are not an experiencd mechanic,it would be best to take it to a reputable service station.I hope this has enlightened you and put you on the right track.

Oh by the way,you cannot get codes from an obd2 computer w/ a jumper wire. The pulsing service light method was on obd1 certified vehicles.

When she fails to start the "service engine soon light" ,stays on however , have discovered that if I jiggle all the various wires on top of engine . she starts & runs great for a couple of days & light gos out as soon as running ...took to mechanic he put on code reader & no codes present..wierd. anyways each time I have no start situation it has been a wet damp mourning , this mouning cold 30 deg & dry, she stared right up the wet seems to be a factor .............I dont think its fuel related... Today puting in new plugs wires cap & roter...taking ignition controll module out & back to Autozone for testing.......after taking cap & wires off will check all wires & connectors....note when running have ignition noise AM radio, that varies with RPM, so going to deal with igniton component first.

there are differant typesof scanners. just because one scanner doesnt show anything doesnt mean there might not be anything wrong. on most items underneath the hood, the computer will detect that there is something wrong before it throws a code. it will try and correct it first. there are code readers out there that will pickup on these and actual codes that are active. i would like to know what codes are pending. you understand??
