2004 Chevy Recalls

I was wondering if anyone knew a good website or knew from experiance where I could find out if there was any known problems with a 2004 Silverado 2dr short bed's transmision. I have been having a lot of problems with mine, ive taken it into the dealer 5 times now and all they keep saying is "Its regular garage clunk" or "Normal 2 to 1 downshift clunk".

Im sorry but its all B.S. Im now having problems when I slow to 20 MPH then accel it slams it into 1st, and i mean slams it.

Just wondering if anyone knew of an existing problem/problem's.

Thanks in advance for your time

-Ben

P.S. My suspension has gone to **** also, ive put now 4 cans of all different kinds of lube/silicon spray/water proof sqeak spray...just to keep it from sqeaking

I would need more info about your truck, any / all noises it makes, when, what type of noise it makes.
this bulletin I posted may be your problem, but there are other things that can cause the noise you hear.
The more info you can give me the better I can help you. also please let me know any thing that has been replaced already it doesn't matter what is was and any mods that are done

2004 Chevrolet Chevy C Silverado - 2WD

Subject:4L60E/4L65E/4L70E Snap Noise 2-1 Downshift - keywords clunk #PIP3106B - (08/11/2006)

Models:1999-2007 All GM Light Duty Trucks and Cars
Equipped with the 4L60E (RPO - M30), 4L65E (RPO - M32) or 4L70E (RPO - M70)

This PI is being superseded to update model years, conditions and instructions. Please discard PIP3106A.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1854807&psdid=437&evc=sm#ss1-1854807">Condition/Concern:

1999-2007 light duty trucks, passenger cars, and utilities equipped with the 4L60E (M30), 4L65E (M32) and 4L70E (M70) automatic transmissions may experience a single snap noise during a 2-1 downshift when coming to a stop.
The snap noise should not be confused with a stop clunk as it is a snap. The snap noise may be described as a ball peen hammer hitting the transmission case. The noise may also be present when shifting from reverse to drive or drive to reverse. The snap noise may appear to be coming from the transfer case.
The Low and Reverse Clutch Support Retainer Spring (anti-clunk spring) (item 680) may have been bent during the production process the noise will most likely occur at low mileage (0 to 7500). If the noise occurs at a higher mileage the spring may have been bent or omitted during a recent repair or is worn.
<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1854807&psdid=437&evc=sm#ss2-1854807">Recommendation/Instructions:

The Low and Reverse Clutch Support Retainer Spring (item 680) should be inspected for being bent or missing. If damaged or missing, replace the spring.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Ill do it step by step.
1) I get in and the horrible rear end squeak happens, sounds dry, leaf springs/shock bushing's

2) Start the truck, when the engine fires I hear a little click, like what I hear when im stoping, just not as loud.

3) Reverse I hear nothing.

4) Reverse to drive, it clunks or what this is saying it "Snaps"

5) It only happens when im slowing from anywhere over 10MPH it "snaps" right when it gets under 10MPH like 8-9MPH.

6) New problem, when im going foward and slow to about 20 then hit the gas, its like it revs the engine then slams it in gear...Im not talking like pressing the gas to the floor, just pushing it to accel again.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado, Short Bed, 2 Door, 2WD, 4.3L V6 - No Mods

I really really appreciate you finding this bulliten for me, I think this is the problem, May I ask where you found it?

-Ben

Edit - Nothing has been replaced, except the rear view mirror and driver door lock
