poor mileage

what would be the best way to get better mileage from my 1998 chevy Z71 5.7 engine with auto trans. and 3.73 rear end standard size tires etc.
have 130,000 miles on it and only get about 13 to 15 m.p.g.

Disconnect that trailer...... Just kiddin. I am thinkin that 5.7 litre x-cab 4x4, with 130k on the clock, gettin 15 mpg, is doing pretty good.

yeah i got a 88 silverado with a 350 and i get 15 gal per mile.

I got about 18 from my 92 with 4l60e and 3:73. good maintenance is the key

good maintence is definatly helps, and so does easy driving, dont get too heavy into the throttle... just bc the power is there, doesnt mean it always has to be used, and hey, consider your-self lucky..... i'd be smilin ear to ear to get 15 with mine..... 13 is as good as she gets

it's not a grocery getter. trucks are made for work and play and you have to pay to play.

mines dropped down to about 11mpg, hopefully ill get a few back after my planned rebuild....

thanks scottie i hope you will get it better .i do like my truck and it will pull my trailer to florida again this winter from up here in the cold ontario canada
