Steering column squeak, 2003

I've a very annoying low pitched squeak which appears to be coming from the steering column on my 2003 2500HD gas. Its been there since new, dealer can't locate it, it has never improved nor ever got worsen ( not including my lack of patience for it ).
To best describe it, it is a low pitch squeak occurring when the steering wheel movement is initiated, i.e. if you wiggle the wheel back and forth a bit you hear it, and in both movement directions. It does it if vehicle is moving or not, it does it if engine is running or not ( meaning its not coming up from the P.S. pump?? ) You can hear nothing from under the vehicle nor from under the hood. Only from in the cab.
Therefore my guess it would be a bushing in the steering cloumn, but I can't locate any, and then why would it not continue to squeak when you continued moving the wheel, rather than just at the initiation of the steering wheel movement ?

FYI, all my front suspension and steering zircs get greased every oil change.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Alot of the Silverados 99 through 04 make that noise. There was a recall on my 01. All the dealer does is put a grease kit on the steering box. White lithium grease fixes it most of the time. They also sometimes make a growling noise when turning at slow speeds. Another chevy issue. No biggy to me.
