1994 Chevy Trans - unusual noise

I have a '94 K1500 with a 4L60E. Two weeks removed from filter/fluid change. Today it started making a sound only when in gear, yet increases or decreases with engine RPM's. The best description is that it sounds similiar to something hitting the fan (thin metal hitting thin metal). I hthought flywheel or torque converter, yet read a couple different forums that stated this might not be the caseAnyone with a suggestion ? Truck is set up for mild off roading and has seen some above average abuse.

My 93 GMC did the same thing before the trans failed it exploded so bad that the case broke in two spots couldn't be rebuilt I found one on Ebay at a super price PM me I will give you more details this trans that I bought was rebuilt and ready to install I couldn't have beat the price even from a salvage yard that's including shipping.

My 97 yukon was making a very similar sound (kinda hard to describe). My method was to put the rear of the truck up on jack stands and spin the rear tires manually to hear where it came from. In my case I heard it in the drive shaft and not the transmission....I went and got new u-joints and the problem was gone for 42 dollars.

Just a thought because I was **** sure mine was the tranny as well but the truck felt fine it just had a pinging noise and it was luckily just the u-joints.

Had a chance to take it apart. Despite advice from a couple different forums, it turned out to be a busted flywheel So all is well now
