91 4x4

I would like to replace the shocks on my 91 4x4, because they have never been replaced, and the truck has a harsh ride. ca anyone recomend a decent shock for my truck? i use it in the sand sometimes, and am planning on some sligtly larger than stock tires as well. would replacing the front shocks level the truck out at all?

If it is still stock, then the front end is approx. 2 inches lower by design, so the shocks won't level it. If you are going to lift to accomodate larger tires, then buy a leveling kit when you do.

he's right shocks wont lift the front end, however there are companies out there that offer leveling kits. As for a shock recomendation I would either go with Rancho, or Monroe Reflex.

A 4" lift would accomodate 33" tires nicely without gearing concerns. A 6" lift would do good with 35" - 37" tires but there's a concern with gearings. If you'er going with a small lift (4") you don't need the leveling kit, it'll level out. Hope this helps.
