Question No Sound with Custom Radio 03 Silverado Bose System

HELP....

I have put in a ton of cd players in my day. This one is killing me. There is no sound with my new CD player. The sound is still working with the factory deck. I really need help with this one. In addition, I had to run an additional power wire to power the new player because it didn't have enough with the factory harness (PITA). Anyone have a clue here. I have an 03 Silverado 1500 LS. Someone said that you have to override something to get it working.

Thanks,
JoeRed

Joe:
is the cd unit you have installed in addition to the one that came stock (Bose)? Or did you change the entire head unit with an aftermarket one? If you changed it, I doubt that it will work period. The individually amped Bose speakers, are only compatible with a Bose head unit.

Whole unit

75K30,
I replaced the whole unit itself. Is there any way to get those bose speakers running with my new deck that you can think of? Can I run RCA's from my new deck to the factory amp? Also, where is the factory amp?
Thanks for your help thus far,
JoeRed

My understanding of the Bose system, is that it has individual amps located at each speaker, and that it requires the factory head unit to operate. Removal of the speakers, and adding an amp would be the only other option, (I believe). It is my opinion (only), that it requires far more work than it is woth to replace factory Bose head units. Were you not satisfied with the performance of the Bose system?. I think they are a pretty great sounding factory system. Much R&D goes into those system for optimum, sound. Perhaps adding to the system, would be possible, but I have yet to see anyone pull off what you are trying to do with any good results. Hopefully someone else has something to add......... Wish I had better news.

Bose

I am very happy with the Bose system. I just want to put a new cd player in because it does not play any of my cd-r cds and I wanted a cd player that played mp3 files. I am not altering the speakers in any way. I might have a fix, some install places say I need a totally over priced wire harness to handle the bose systems. Best Buy wants $121.00. I bought the deck on sale for $99.00, go figure.

Why not just get an I-pod x-mtr? It will transmit at a frequency that your stereo can play. The plus side, is that it is cheaper than everything you have done already, and it can be used anywhere you have an FM stereo.

No problem man. Like I said before, I wish I had better news for you. Hate to see a guy spend time doin somethin that does not work out so well. Chalk it up to experience.
Thought,,,,,,,, do you know the manufacturer of that harness? Maybe a pin out schematic could be found to duplicate the harness. Making one is really not all that hard. Just a thought.. Good luck.
