Grinding noise from transmission

I took my 78' Scottsdale out yesterday and on my way home the transmission started making sound like two metal disks rubbing on each other right when it is going to leave second gear. When I heard the noise I let off the gas because I did not want it locking up anything. Whats causing the noise and how can I fix it?

My 4L60e did the same thing before it shelled out, the wifes van started slipping so I changed the fluild and added a LUCAS transmission additive it fixed it right up I was amazed.

It is hard to say what might be causing the noise. It could be a simple thing such as a u-joint. If it is the transmission making the noise it would have to be torn apart to tell where it is coming from. could be the pump, clutches/steels, or a bad bushing. Sorry I couldnt be more helpful.
