chokes on power/1989 silverado

the truck starts fine and idles, but going down the road it not get over 45 miles and hour. When you give it the gas it chikes up and seems there is no fuel. It will not gain any speed.

Did you mean down a hill kind a thing. If it is, then it sounds like a fuel issue when the truck is tilted. I could be wrong though, but since the truck starts and idles normally this is the only thing I could pick from the top of my brain....or what's left of it.

It will not accelerate when giving it more gas. Only get about 45 mph. That is on flat road and no hills.

Well it could be a lot of things but I would start with the ignition then. Timing, distributor, plug/wires that sort a thing. Oh, a do a cat check too to see if its plugged.

I had the exact same problem on two fuel injected vehicles.

Would start and run fine, but would die on application of a lot of throttle, just like no fuel there...........well that was the problem.

Changed fuel filter on each and problem gone.

Will It Do It If You Are Still And Just Give It Gas?

Start With Changing The Fuel Filter And Check Fuel Pressure.
It May Not Hurt To Clean The Injectors As Well.
