| silaverado engine, trans swap hi chev truck owners. I am going to do some modifications and am wonderring if any of you experts have any insightbefore I start. First of all I have a 84 halfton silverado lwb 4x4 lifted 6" and 33's for tires. It has a 305, highly worn, and a turbo 350 3 speed. Needless to say it has no top end power with the 33's and 3:28 ratio. So here is my plan. I have a older 350, 1976 4 bolt main motor. Bored .30 over, I have ported and polished heads and have a eldebrock 600 carb and manifold for the motor. I also have a 1990 chev manual 5 speed trans laying around. So here is the plan, the 350 should have enough power with the 5 speed and tires and ratio to pull it decient and hopefully get around 20 miles/gal (using 5th as much as spossible). The question, what kind of problems to use the 1990 5 speed? Can the 1990 trany bold up to the 76 block without any problems? On the 1990 trans the transfer case is on the drivers side while the stock one is on the passangers side. Will the 84 transfer case bolt on to the 1995 trany? If not can I reposition the 95 transfer case to the passanger side of truck. Linkages will have to be custom build I assume, but that shouldn't be any problem. Any other problems I might encounter??? |

| Yes the tranny will bolt to the block. As for the transfer case I can't help you there. I'm pretty sure someone out there makes an adapter to get it where it needs to be. Maybe 75K30 can shed some more light on it for you.

| yes the motor and trans will bolt up and the transfer case should bolt up with no problems. If anything you may have to get the adapter that they use on the back of a 700r4. It's like 4 inches long and just bolts the tranny to the transfer case. You need that when you go from a 700 to a 350 in a 90's chevy. |
