Y-pipe Install O3 Silverado?

I Want To Install A Cat-free Y-pipe On My 03 5.3l Silverado To Complete My Exhust Mod. Will I Reduce Back Pressure To Much And Kill My Low End Torque? Thanks For Any Help?

I Just Talked To A Very Reputable Speed Shop Here In N.y. ,and They Said If I Did This It Would Definitly Kill My Low End Torque, Burn Out The O2 Sensors And The Pcm Would Throw Codes. If Anybody Was Intrested

Hey buck I thought I'd pop on this subject since nobody responded. Your cat is needed to reduce the unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide into water (which is why you see water dripping out your tail pipe) and carbon dioxide. But mostly so you can pass emission. I don't know how it would burn out your O2 sensor since it's before your cat and it wouldn't kill your low-end torque either. Get a free-flowing cat if you want. Just so you know, if you've replaced your muffler with aftermarket you should replace the cat too with a free-flowing one.

Thanks for the reply pal,
The more I read on the subject the more I learn. I recently read in engine builder mag that on computer controles late model vehicles, back pressure is realy not needed to cool valves and it will not kill low end torque or burn out o2 sensors. The computer will compenate. I think the speed shop was just tring to cover their a##. Thanks again, and happy holidays.

Are you sure Magnaflow doesn't make for your truck. Run your truck's model specs on Summit. I'm sure there's one for you.
