99 S10 2.2l PU Starting problem

Newbie to the forum. I purchased a 1999 S10 yesterday with the 4 cyl 2.2l engine. The truck has 159K miles on it. I noticed that the engine needed to crank quite a bit before starting when I test drove it. This morning I want out to showoff the "New" truck to the wife and it wouldn't start. It just cranked but wouldn't fire. Finally got it to fire after about 10 minutes and I could hear it popping from the intake before it cleared up.
Which leads me to think that I may have a fuel pressure problem.
Questions;
Is there a cold start injector on this engine? I don't think there is but asking anyway.
Is this truck engine combination affected by knowned fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump problems? I guess I'm going to have get a fuel pressure gauge to check it out.
Where is the fuel pump located? In tank?
I did notice that the DRL relay located next to the fuel pump relay had pin 86 bend over to disable the DRL. I didn't think that would affect the starting but I'll ask the more knowledgeable member if this could be the problem?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Well I got it fixed, no thanks to this thread. All it needed was a set of plugs (main cause) The center electrodes were totally worn out, they looked like the original AC plugs. So I also replaced the fuel filter which also looked like an original..... Anyway not bad for a truck with 159K.
