Diesel Crate Engine

I am in the beginning stages of looking into putting a diesel crate engine into a 1999 Suburban 4X4 That currently has a 454 in it.

Would it be advisable to go with the 6.5 liter Diesel that came in these trucks new, or should I look into going with a Duramax Diesel?

The questions that I have are, what all would I need to change? I know for starters that I would need to change the mounts and the computer, but would I also need to change the tranny? Anything else that would be required?

Also on this same truck I have a lot of play in the sterring wheel. side to side play. Any ideas what thay may be?

Thanks in advance!

With all the electronics and stuff you might be better off trying to find a surburban that is diesel already.
