Question Truck will start but wont stay running

Ok I bought this 1988 Chevrolet 1500 2x4 off of a farmer. It has the 305 engine and it was great when I bought it. The farmer told me it only had 96k on it but he lied because the odometer doesn't work. Here is where my trouble starts. I was going 40 mph down a two lane when my left front wheel bearing went out. Fixed it and everything was fine. Now I turn the truck on and it starts but give it time to idle down and it makes funny noises and dies. The battery light comes on in the dash but all my lights and accessories are on and the truck starts on its own. My boyfriend seems to think it is in the fuel lines or the fuel pump. Has anyone else had this problem?? Or have any other ideas about what is going on. I need this thing to run its my only transportation! I knew I should have bought a FORD!!

I am not sure about the starting issue, I had a similar problem and mine turned out to be the temp sensor. I don't know if that is your problem, my '88 ran really strange with a bad sensor.

Good Luck

Can you describe the "funny noise" a little better?
Also.. check all the wiring around everywhere you touched when replacing the bering.. perhaps something is loose/unplugged.

Did you code? Sounds like it needs tuning.....filters, plugs, cap/rotors and such.

Noise is idle

The noise is the idle going goofy. It revs up and down until it finallly just shuts down. I hdont have a tacometer so i dont know what its idleing at or anything, im not a truck genious i just hang out with them, but they havent had time to figure anything out yet, so i am trying to find the problem myself to show off
