| Radio in 85 chevy c20 I got a new radio for my father in law for Christmas and am trying to install it. Any info or help would be much appreciated. I was told I need to run another direct power from the battery and also that the deck will mount in the stock dash. I just need to cut it to fit. Thanks for any help |

| As long as the radio you are trying to install is a "Single Din", it should mount directly. There is a stabilizer mount on the very back, a small piece of rubber shaped like a cone, that you may have to adjust to get it in for a perfect fit. As for the power issue, the second power line is probably just for the constant, to keep the stations programmed and the clock correct. If this is what its for, you could splice down into the cigarrete light feed, its a much shorter distance. If it is actually for the radio power, you should try going through the under dash fuse block, it's easily accesible and you could protect the radio with a fuse.

| I agree with Ryan on both issues. In some cases the vehicle is prewired for the radio installation. In these cases there is wiring harness adaptor kits designed for the specific vehile that allows you to use the factory radio wiring connectors without cutting into any wires.

| You might want to look thru eBay in the Chevy dash section and get an after market dash panel. Another option is to buy a later model Silverado radio and it will fit right in. eBay takes some time to sort thru but you can a lot of odd parts for your truck. |
