1994 Chevy pickup electrical problems

I have a 1994 Chevy pickup in excellent condition except for a slow discharge on the battery. If I leave it set for three days or more, the battery is completely dead.

One mechanic who looked at it said that the radio was short circuiting and he disconnected it. That did not work.

I am at a loss as how to proceed. What should I do next?

I also know that I may not have given you enough information so if you need more info, please let me know.

(My mechancial ability is below zero so explain things like you were talking to a first grader! )

Thanks!

It's shorting somewhere. Most times it is the alternator. you can take it to oreillys/napa/autozone and they will test it for you.

Yes, it is indeed shorting somewhere.

How difficult is it to find the source of this kind of problem?

My first mechanic is a genius and is able to find all kinds of stuff but he is totally bumfuzzled by this problem.

First, test the alternator as mrjohnwayne mentioned. If it checks out, disconnect the positive battery terminal and put a lighted circuit tester between it. Go the the fuse box and pull one fuse at a time until the light goes off. At least this way you got somewhere to start.
