Question Smoking!!!!!!

I own a 1991 C-1500 with a 5.7.When I start it up it does not seem to have a high idle, also after it warms up it continues to belch BLACK smoke out the exhaust. It seems to be running rich.It has a TBI unit on it.Any HELP would be greatly appreciated.

if it were blowby it should be blue/white smoke. Black smoke is more fuel related.

X2, black smoke is fuel, i'd check the coolant temp sensor first, mine was bad for a long time on my 94k2500 and i didn't even know it untill i hooked up my megasquirt and saw it reading -40 on the data display. , if that don't work, try the map sensor and check the fuel pressure.

how long has it been since the oxygen sensor has been done? If im not mistaken, those usually have about a 30k mile life span. And if it goes out and gets stuck in a lean condition, it will tell the computer to dump more gas.
