01 climate control temp. adjustment problems

Newb here. I was just searching around for any info on an '01. When I turn on the heater to full hot, it stays there! I have no control to cool the truck back down when it gets too warm. It will always work after the truck is turned off for some time.

My most un-educatced guess is some sort of relay in the system that is bad. Anyone experience this?

Thanks in advance..

David

Everything is electronic now it is the temp door motor going bad, All the door actuators and temp controls use motors with a feedback circuit and when the feedback goes erratic the motor stays wherever it is at.

Thanks so much GM!
Is this something an above average home mech can fix?

Yeh it is pretty easy guessing that it is the temp actuator motor that is bad. If you have a single zone temp control the actuator is under the passenger side of the dash and screwed to the bottom of the case. Once you remove the lower panel on passenger side of the dash turn the truck on and move the temp controls while watching the actuator to determine which one it is and then replace it. The actuators have been the only problems that we at the dealer have come accross but it could also be the control head but like i said my bet is on the temp actuator.
