98 4Cyl S-10 Pickup Electrical Problems ??

Recently bought this truck and everything seemed to be working ok. Just recently the gauges either act wacky or not at all. Last night while I was driving it, the head lights started to dim, then quit all together, then the dash lights stopped working. Trucked died and would not start back up. Waited for about 15 mins. and the truck started up again, head lights and dash lights working, then stopped working again within 5 minutes.

Any suggestions.

id start by testing the alternator and battery.
