E-brake problem

I've got a buddy with a '94 Cheyenne 4x4 and the E-brake cable was broken. He put a piece of cable in the spot where broken because NOBODY, not even the local GM dealer could find him a replacement cable. Now the cable holds but the actual pedal slips. Are the teeth worn on the pedal or what's the deal? Thanks very much for any help.

it might be. but check to see if there's play in the pedal for movement that could be the prob. if there is go to the junk yard and get one for little money.

It's a short cable that is attached to the handle then to the bracket right? Or is it the cable that runs under that is broken??

Oh boy, you got your work cut out for you. I guess the only option is to replace the whole thing unless someone can chime in and help out. It's wierd that GM wouldn't have one. Would the wrecking yard help you out? At least this way you'll know how they're attached and hopefully the truck is all taken apart making it easier to get to.
