Question Need help mounting a seat in 54 pickup!

I'm building a 54 Chevy pickup and want to put some S-10 60/40 seats in it as they fit well but are not tall enough. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can mount them. I need to get them 4" up as they are too low for driving. I can't think of a solid way to mount them safely and securely. Thanks, Billyzack

Question Another 54 Chevy question.

Iam fixing up a 54 pickup and it has a 327 and a 80s camaro suspension. Whoever did it did a nice job but I was told it had a Plymouth rearend. Does anyone know why this was done? Why not a Chevy rearend and how can I find out what year Plymouth rearend it is in case I need parts. Also, there is a drain on my battery, the truck only has lights, radio, and turn signals. Why does my battery keep draining? It is brand new and charges up fine but after a week, it's dead. Don't know how to troubleshoot this. It has a painless wiring system causing me oains. Thanks, Billyzack

Many streetrod guys use the chrysler 8 3/4" rear end as a cheap alternative to the ford 9". These are both pretty strong axles, but the biggest reason streetrod guys use em, is because they are smooth housings, and take a powdercoat fish, or paint very well.
Exactly what parts are you looking for? You can use the part #'s from the parts you already have to replace any worn, or broken ones. Gears, bearings, and seals will all have #'s on them.
As for you seat problem. A company called Procar has a few different seat brackets that may fit your application. Because there is not such a demand for s-10 seats in a 54' chev truck, exact applications will be close to impossible to find. Have you tried looking through some bone yards, to pick up some seat pedestals for van applications? Short of having a sheetmetal shop "break" some custm pedestals for you, this is all I can think of.
Now the drain on your battery. Try disconnecting your radio. If it has a memory, then it will have a constant draw on the battery. Although it should last for more than a week, because there is just not that much of a draw from the radio, it may be your source. Is there an amp. for the stereo that might be wired to the stereo incorrectly? Most amps require a switched lead from the stereo to tell it to turn on. If this is wired to the bat. directly, or the switched lead is not operating correctly, this will also cause a drain. After that, I would have to know what type of alt. you have there to determine if the charging system has the gremlin.

Solved my problem

You're the man! The amp was the culprit, I measured the draw then unhooked the amp, problem solved. Thanks. I never thought of van pedestals, I will try that. Thanks for the good advice. Billyzack

Alright! Glad to hear that I could help. I have a 55' Chev. p/u, and I am working on a %^' ford at my shop. If I can help you with that seat, let me know. It looks like you are in Phoenix, that is not too far away. I can fab something up for you, if you have accurate dimensions, and ship, or deliver. I am in Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale......(you get the idea) all of the time. I visit Az at least once a month. Again good job finding your problem, and good luck with your ride.
