exhaust

i own a 05 chevy with the 5.3 and i just had the exhaust done about a month ago by a local muffler shop and what they did was cut out the muffler and put in a straight pipe which goes into a y,but i am not happy with the way it sounds it is loud enough but i dont care for the deep tone what i am looking for is the high pitched crack and i have been told to try glass packs, flowmaster 40 series muffler, smaller exhaust pipe, headers with no cats and high flow cats now i dont think any kind of muffler is going to do the trick but i do know that it will get very expensive trying all the different options so if anyone could help me out i would appreciate it.

The "clacking" sounds can be achieved by using glass packs but is this going to affect your yearly inspections??

short glasspacks. i had a friend that had 12 inch glasspacks on a 91 suburban and between being loud it had the crack you are looking for.

oh but one thing with glasspacks on newer trucks the o2 sensors always throw codes and will make it start running rough, just my experience on my newer models of chevys.

I dont see y putting a glasspack muffler in would effect the o2 that is right behind the cat? but from what Im told and what usually gets me goin outta the old muscle cars I think ur looking 4 a glasspack. The 40 gives it a deep tone and some power but I donno if Im completely happy with my sound. I mean it is great and all but I want it 2 be almost obnoxious haha just personal preference tho. Hopefully headers will do that tho
