Headers I installed a set of edelbrock shorty steel ceramic coated headers(edl-65022, $300) on my 06 silverado 5.3. They look very nice. It's not much louder and not much of a power increase noticed. I dont know the performance differences between long or shorty headers. I bought the shorty headers because they bolt right up to the stock Y-pipe and make for a very simple installation.

The shorties are a waste of money. Get the long tube, the will make it sound better and give you proformance increase

Hedman headers are fairly cheap. They may not have it for your application tho.

| the only reason to buy shorties is so you don't have to replace the exhaust system. witch restricks the performance of the headers. i would go with the full (long) headers like chevy808 they are better for performance and after you run the new exhaust system with them you will feel the diff. it lets more air out of the system means more power. thats just my opion have a great day

If sound is what you are looking for, and you have already removed the muffler, then you are going to be dissapointed with the sound results after the header install. You did not mention whether or not you are still running the stock cats. My assumption is that you are. If the stock cats are in place, then the most noise you are going to get is what you already have. Those stock manifolds flow pretty well, and move enough air to make it loud. Get rid of the restriction at the factory cats, and loud is what you will have. If you remove them (emissions tests taken into consideration), you will be so loud, that you will eventually return to mufflers. Change them to hi-flow units, and you will increase Db's, and you might even pick up a little performance. Try to remember, loud, only sounds like you are going fast. Get a high flow exhaust, with a quality muffler, and you can make reasonable power, and sound good too.
