cold air intake

I have a 2003 Silverado w/5.3. I am wanting to install a K&N 77 series cold air intake. Is this going to cause more problems than what its worth, or will I get more power and better gas mileage out of the deal. I already have dual exhaust....

only problem with it is if you don't reprogram the computer there is a slight hesitation when you step in the gas. other than that it does help

i seriously doubt that you are going to get a noticable gas increase or power increase except in throttle response. personally, i would do something else with that money.

Cool Airaid

I just put an Airaid in took about 30 min. to install. Had one one on my old truck(2001 f150 5.4) on that one it made a big difference.
Still haven't had it on long enough to tell, will post in about a month.

What do you mean by dual exhaust?? Do you have a single muffler with dual outlets or do you have dual mufflers with no "Y" pipe straight back (this is actually true duals)?? Brad is right on the money about spending it elsewhere. Just drop in a stock replacement K&N filter.....you already have a cold air setup.

that dual exhaust is a bad son of a gun. i had a true dual setup with turndowns behing the cab. in a 91, i could near beat anything on the road.

Guessing you're one of the lucky guys.....no emission in your state. You know, I've installed Hooker Competition headers (full length) on my '93 but with single Flowmaster muffler and hi-flow cat in Hawaii (no emission laws either) then I had to move to Salt Lake City (with emission laws). It rendered my EGR inoperable but was able to find someone to tweak it to pass every year......Cr*p. Don't mean to hijack this thread.

not state but select counties. but they are trying hard to make it state wide. i did like everyone else and turned the pie pan upside down. really did make a differance. flowmasters with no cats.
truck03, what exactly are you wanting, more power or gas mileage??
