Any way to test a turn signal flasher?

As yo may know from my other post, I'm having trouble with my turn signals. I bought the Haynes manual today and read that there is a flasher that controls the turn signals and the hazards. Is there a way to tell if this is malfunstioning without replaceing it first?

turn the blinker on.... if your lights work, chances are its the flasher. could be the switch, but id bank on the flasher.

You mean that since the headlights and high beams both work along with the turn signals that the switch itself is good but since the flashers sometimes all flash when the right directional is switched on that it's the flasher?

What your describing is you most likely have a shorted switch. Flashers just make the lights blink instead of being on steadily.
