Intake 5.7

There seems to be something holding my upper and lower manifold together from the inside. All bolts are out. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a 99 suburban with the 5.7. It has a intake that is made of 2 peices. The lower half looks like a normal intake except it is only 2 inches high and another plasic smaller manifold bolts on top of it.

Hope you do not have two pieces of intake manifold.

They can be stubborn sometimes, usually has a fair amount of silicone around the corners where it meets the block / heads. Be sure the dist. is out, and the valve covers are off. They do get in the way. Then I usually pry slightly between the intake and the block, in the center just above the water pump. It will not take too much to get it to "pop". The rest is gravy after that. You will be amazed at how heavy that thing is.

I am leaking antifreeze from the gasket on the back side. The plastic top manifold is loose but there seems to be something inside holding it down and I don't want to break something by pulling to hard.?

Thanks. I think some of the bolts for the lower are under the upper manifold. I can only see 8 bolts, 2 in each corner. The chiltons manual show s 12. ???
