Who makes the best Air Intakes

Everyone knows K&N and a few people know or AirRaid But what other good brands are there for best preformance overall (I have a 05' Silverado 4.8 just if anyone has a specific word of wisdom on thatr model) but also just overall as I said?

just think of it like this. to get more flow threw your filter it has to have bigger openings, which means those small particles that were getting trapped by your factory filter are now getting threw. in the end all you're really doing is sand blasting the inside of your engine, just change your factory filter regularly and you'll be fine.

The mags say good things about volant. The diesel guys swear by BANKS. I am waiting for him to come out with stuff for the LS motors. He already has stuff for the hemis.

I just wanted to add my two cents in here. Maybe some after market kits will allow more are by filtering less, but sometimes, just getting the filter out of the box, and allowing it to see more air helps. I know plenty of guys that run K&N set-ups and never have any problems. However, if you were just looking for a boost in power and gas mileage, I tried that new product called the turbonater. Basically it forced the incomming air to spin like a tornado before entering the engine, and thus allowing more air in. It worked great for me, so i would consider that an option. you can check it out at www.turbonator.com It could be an option if you are still looking.

its funny you mention that. i seen an ad for a thing like what you are talking about. i decided to read about it and stopped when it said that it would increase hp by 22 and increase your mileage by 3 or 4 mpg. HA!!

I run K&N in stock filter box. I have heard a few horror stories about the open element systems allowing water and major trash in if you do not check them routinely i.e every fillup.

i tried it in one of my cars, I was just looking for the mileage increase, and regardless of what opinions are said, It did help. I averaged around three mpg higher! And there was a noticable power boost, but that could have been the new air filter too....lol. Anyways, I would not have recommended it if I didn't try if myself.
