noise while turning

just bought a 2001 crew cab 1500hd 4x4. the day after i drove it home from the USED CAR DEALERSHIP it developed a strange bump in the steering wheel when turning. I assumed it was the start of a cv joint going bad. The dealer told me that all cv joints were good and it was the steering column that had a slight bind in it. they said this was very common and could be re-lubed but that problem could return. Any input on this subject would be very helpful as i am new to the chevy truck world.

Yeh the intermediate steering shafts have been a problem for a long time now. We were replacing them then they decided to relube them then replaced then relube the excercise them and as of the end of jan 07 we are to replace them again. One day they will come up with something that will work. At our dealer we have been told to goodwill/warranty any of the steering shaft concerns as I would think all dealers would since it has been such a big and long concern.
