The "lift bed" Procedure for R&R tank mounted fuel pump?

96 Silverado 305 Vortec. Desperately need a procedure for replaceing the tank mounted fuel pump on a 1/2 ton pickup. Does anyone have any tips and advice on the bed raising procedure? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i had a 97 and as long as there is less than half a tank it is easier the just drop the tank instead of lifting the bed. just my opinion, i had problems with the fuel pump about every year after i replaced the factory pump. i got to a point to where i could pull the tank in about 5 mins by myself.

i hate dropping fuel tanks. my 77 year old grandfather lifted one corner of the bed with a jack, after taking the bolts off of course, by himself and replaced his this past year.

it is easier to drop th tank out of the bottom. Just be sure you empty tank a lot less weight. Make sure to change sending unit at the same time as the pump. The new models make you do this as it is not optional they are one piece units.
