Keyless entry control unit replacement

I just purchased a factory keyless entry unit for replacement of my failed old unit. I was told that the unit plugs in just behind the instrument cluster on my 2002 Silverado LS pick-up. My question is; How does the instrument cluster come out? Does it come out by itself, or does the entire dash face panel have to be removed 1st? How is either attached? Does anyone have a diagram of the dash they could send me?

Ok, today it warmed up a little and I decided to explore a little and was able to access and remove the instrument cluster. There was no control unit behind there, nor was there a place to put one. So now my question is; just where does the control unit go?

It is behind the cluster but the top of the dash has to come off to access it.

Sheesh! Sounds like I need to locate a good manual for this job. I don't like messing with the air bags. When I called the dealer today, their tech said that it could be mounted in one of 2 locations on this model. It can be on either side of the radio, and is mounted to the metal framework just under the top of the dash. Since I could not see it with the radio out, it's likely just to the upper left of the air bag module. Thanks gmtech for getting back to me on this.
