Help! My wife is thinking about buying a Ford!

Ok, so how do I put an end to this?
She's consumed with the look of the truck... and of course, she is sentimental towards Fords, since her brother who taught her to drive, is a Ford guy. (even though he owns a classic LeMans)

Anyways.. I'd like her to buy a Chevy, if she's not going to get that Tacoma she's been talking about...

come on man, you can find something wrong with it cant you?? my wife is looking also and every vehicle has had something wrong with it. but she doesnt know that it aint that big of deal to fix. if its a new one, tell her with all the layoffs and such from ford that parts might start to get scarce. i have used that line before. maybe she can be fooled also.

Or you could just tell her to get the ford so she can go pick you up whenever your chevy breaks down...

I tried the "it costs more to fix" line, but she's not going for it...

she thinks my chevy is broken all the time, because I work on it a lot... she should know by now that I can't leave well-enough alone...

If she wants to buy a new ford car, then you have problems, but if she want's a new ford truck, then you should be content. This is a give, and take situation here. A small compromise here can really go a long way. You should be able to use this to your advantage for a long while. I think she is making a far better decision than the "Taco" that she was considering.
Take a look for yourself and decide...... Girl in a Toyata drives by, nuthin! Same girl goes by in a fullsize chevy truck, she gets a second look, exactly, the same girl drives by in a big ol Super Duty, with that clackity clack of the diesel, and a puff of black soot when she hits the skinny pedal! Holy ****!, she looks like Miss fricken America!! Get the idea?
Either way, if mama wants a ford, you are better off letting her get a ford. You know the old saying, "If mama aint happy, aint nobody happy!"

you're not kidding about ford cars... she picked up a new 00 Cougar, back before we were "serious"... because of the strong asthetic appeal... and compared to the hail-damaged Geo Metro that died at the dealership as we drove it on the lot, it must have seemed like a much nicer car... it was overpriced at 17,000... it's a nice enough car. fun to drive and all... but there are better ways to spend 17 grand.. we'll just put it that way...

I guess I should be happy that she has agreed to sell it to her sister, whose husband just got done TOTAL-ing her 3000GT.

We're selling the minivan too. I've got her thinking about refurbishing a late model full size blazer now... as we are moving to Colorado, and much is to be determined as far as bills and lifestyle is concerned; we should be looking at getting something that will serve our purposes, without the pressure of 600+ dollar a month payments for the next five years... it could mean the difference between her having to work, or being able to go to school full time for the next couple years...
