1994 c1500 - clicking noise from heater I have a clicking noise coming from my heater box area. It's only when I turn the key to run or shut it off. It does it for about 15 seconds and then stops. I'm thinking it's a blend air door. I have perfect heat. I don't really care if I fix the problem, I just want to make the noise stop. Does anyone know what is activated when you turn the key on or off in the heater box area that could make this kind of noise?

Its the door that controls recirculation or fresh air and it returns to fresh/outside air when turned off

Where is it located? Is it the door itself or the actuator? Is it possible to get to it without removing half the dash and pulling the heater box out a little? Can I just unplug something?

i have the same noise from my 93 1500. i think its something with the fan blades hitting something because when i turn the climate control off it goes away and when i put the fan on higher the noise gets faster then goes away.

| I have a 1993 Silverado 2500. I have this same clicking noise when the key is turned on and off. I gather from the replies that the outside air door actuator is the problem. I assume that in order to fix the problem that the actuator will need replaced. If someone has completed this procedure I would like some instruction on how do it. Thanks. | Welcome to the forum Shutt24. The ideas above about cleaning the ducts/blower of debris is a good one because lots of folks have found junk causing noise. For the CCOT setup which I'm assuming you have, not the cables, some noises are normal as the motors adjust themselves. Should be less than 20 seconds or so at startup and not that loud. If you do want to get to the mode actuator, it's on the air distribution case between the blower and air distibutor. On the side towards you. Probably going to have to remove the instrument panel section to get to it. |
