2003 Chevy Silverado Blower Resistor

Hello. I am a new member of the site, but have used it before for information. I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado. Two months ago my blower started only working on the highest speed (5). I did some searching on this site and determined that it was the blower motor resistor causing the problem. I replaced it with a factory part from my local Chevy dealer and it cured the problem until now, the same problem is occurring. Is there something causing this resistor to fail, or did I just get stuck with a lemon? I am reluctant to just put another $50.00 part into my truck if there is something that is causing it to fail. Thank you for your time.

could be another bad resistor. usually resistors break when there is a large voltage spike which could also be a problem for you.

bradrhale- Thanks for the reply. What would be causing a voltage spike that would blow out the resistor? Should I just buy another one and put it in, or is there something else that should be fixed before I replace the part again? Thanks again for your help.

being that everything else works, i wonder what voltage the blower motor is pulling. i seriously doubt that this is a problem for you since it has gone all this time without problem. certainly there is some warranty on the resistor.
