help i have a tranny problem

hi i recently bought my 84 chevy and the next day my tranny went out. i beleive that the tranny overheated because it came out the dip stick.
after getting it towed 100 miles to my house i changed out the tranny filter and fluid. the old filter wan crystalized and had a hole blown through the element, it drove fine for about 2 hours, and then it started messing up agian. so the next day i bought another filter and changed it again. and this time it did nothing. i do know now that the main seal is leaking pretty bad. i have to go get a tranny tomarrow out of a 82 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban. i was wondering if it will work right, i think the only difference will be that the 82 is a 27 spline and im pretty shure mine is a 30 spline will this converion work as long as i have the right torque converter. and what happened to the old tranny. thanx

what kinda tranny and is your truck a 4x4. If your truck is 2x4 then a 4x4 tranny won't work.
