Wink Chevy S-10 Vacuum Problem

I Have A 1991 Chevy S-10 Pickup, 2.8 V6, Manual Transmission, 2WD. I Am Have Hardly No Vacuum. Can Some One Help.

One More Question I Have This Round Metal Cup Like 3in. Round By 1in Thick. Like Right Behind My Power Steering Pump/Resavor. It Connects To A Hose And The Metal Thing Got A Filter In It And Has Little Holes Around The Outside Of It. I Took It Off And I Would Guess Its Supposed To Suck Air. I Get Nothing. What Is This...

If you have a throttle body or even a carb, then i would look at the resivoir on the passanger side of the engine compartment. You should see a little hose run into and out of the unit. The unit regulates vacuum for cold starts, and nasty inclines. Sometimes, even a hairline crack will make you lose vacuum.

If you have direct port fuel injection, then it may not be a vacuum problem, but a bad injector.

you can find a vacuum leak by spraying starting fluid in small amounts around the engine compartment while the motor is running. When it revvs higher, you have found your vacuum leak. Some people like carb cleaner and it is probally safer, but it causes the motor to die down a little when it is introduced to the motor, but it is not as pronounced as starting fluid.
