| I have a friend that owns a newer ford ranger, and we got into a discussion yesterday, and it led to a puzzling question. Whats the difference between the push button activation for my 4x4 in my truck and the turn nob in his? the reason I ask is I was under the understanding that the push button is like an electronic switch, where as the dial he has is controlled by a magnet. I would prefer to have a mechanical shift lever on the floor anyway, but since I don't....... Anyways, he sometimes has difficulty shifting into and out of four low, and ,mine never seems to have trouble. is there a difference between the switches?

| Both electronic and no they are not dependable. The conttrol a relay the applies power to the actuator tof the transfer case. I have replaced a ton of them. Did an 02 dodge last week Parts for the switch were $300 bucks. Gimme a floor shifter anyday.
