Looking for another Chev truck

Right now l own an 88 Chev 1/2 ton full size.Looking to buy a Chev 1/2 ton ex cab auto s\b. I looked in Lemon-Aid which confused me more. With regards to quality and piston-slap probs.I understand there is a piston slap kit you can throw in.Not worth it for the age of my truck. My truck seems to stay on high-idle-changed many parts to no avail.Eventually it does kick down in time.It has over 200,000km, leaking gas tank etc, rust on doors and wheel wells.Would like some advice on another truck as listed above.Somewhere between 95-98.Thanks!

Not sure where your heading with this. Are you asking for help fixing your truck, or just genereal info.
the piston slap issue os on the newer 5.3 liter motors, If your looking for 95-98 it will be a vortec 5.7. Great motors with alot of power.

depends, the 5.7 can, but the power difference is pretty obvious
