Exclamation to pull or not to pull? that is the question

Hey Ya'll This Tranny Still Isn't Shifting Right Yet. Or Maybe Theres Something Else Wr0ng With Truck Or Sensors. It Has Now Pull When U First Take Off. But After U Get Going Then U Can Really Get On It. Shifts Fine Just Motor Bogging. Don't Want To Pull The **** Tranny Back Out!!! Guy We Bought It From Said It Was Running Just Fine When They Pulled It. We Were Hoping That The Valves Were Just Stuck From Sitting Up Awhile. What Do Ya'll Smart Ones Think???

I was waiting to hear from the smart ones, but I figured i would post up in the mean time. When i buy a "it worked fine when we pulled it" part, I assume its bad. No way to test it wothout going thru all the work of installling it. Either way, I think your gonna have to pull it and go thru it.

How long was it sitting up? Do you still have the old one? If it were me (and I know you said you don't want to pull it again ) I would take the old one and have a bench job done to it (much cheaper) and replace it while you have one in there that will still get you around.

Cool

the tranny has sat up since x-mas of this year(not to long) and by experimenting with it u can manually shift it but never get 4th gear, it's like it starts of in 3rd.no pull or power pulling 300 rpms before getting any speed but never shifts by itself. however u can manually shift and if u throw it in reverse it will sling your head off and maybe if not holding on good hit the dash. also it has more pulling power in 4wd. talked to mechanic and he seems to think its something electronic. like the computer. so we're going to take it to him and let him put it on the computer. it had a 700r4 in it when we bought it. but we put this 4l60e in it b/c thats whats suppose to be in it. the 700r4 was running off a d-tech cable and not the computer. and my husband said it looked like the previous owner tried to bypass the computer and used that tranny instead. he said it looked like they tried to re-wire the computer or something. i don't know i guess thats what u get for buying someone else's **** from an public auction. but we only paid 3,000 for it.

both of those trannys are basically the same, the l60 is just electronic unlike the 700r4. the previous owner is probably like me and didn't want to fool with all the electrical garbage and went the the tried and true method.

if any of the wires were re arranged in the harness the computer can no longer tell the tranny to shift. And since there is like 20 wires in the harness it sould be fun. also i dont know what year your truck is but 93-94 in one harness, 95 by itself, and 96-up. so your truck might not match the tranny electonics.
