| Non-functioning temp gauge I wonder if someone can point me in the general direction of the temp sending unit for my '85 Silverado C30. Engine is a 350. The gauge had been reading very low for quite a while. I recently put a new radiator, tstat, & heater core in her, and now it seems the gauge doesn't move at all. The rest of the cluster works fine, so I figure the sending unit is bad. Thanks! |

| drivers side head almost halfway back. i had to replace mine but i dont believe that you can replace just that unit. it is not a sending unit like the oil is where you disconnect the wire and go. i ended up going with an aftermarket guage. partly because i am too lazy to tear into the panel and replace the factory unit from the junkyard. |

| I would buy a 3 gauge pod and be done with all the factory gauges. So you don't have to trouble shoot faulty gauges for a while but thats just me. If your under the hood once mite as well do em all. |

Is it the same as the coolant sending unit? Mine is in the front near the neck where the thermostat is located. BTW, I have a 5.0 enigine.

Found it! It sits between the frontmost two spark plugs, has a green wire going to it. I cleaned up the connection and now I'm getting it to read about where it always was, which is on the cold side of the first graduation on the gauge. Now I don't know whether to try to find the sender, or just let it ride.

| if it is working like it is supposed to and goes up when it gets up to temp and then back down when the t-stat kicks in, i wouldnt worry about it. i changed mine when it wouldnt come off zero in the middle of summer with the ac on in downtown traffic. |
