 | fan belt i have a 1991 chev.with a 350 cid engine.... the fan belt is getting some of the edge groves on the belt torn off.. what could cause this????? thankshttp://www.truckforum.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif |

 | How old is that serpantine belt? Age can cause this, it may even come from slippage. Is the outside very shiney? You may also have a damaged pulley that is responsible for damaging the edges. You could also have a problem with one of the accessories coming loose, and trying to twist the belt. You can verify this by removing the tension from the belt, and giving a good tug on the individual accessories, a loose one will be obvious. |

| tnx 75k30 the belt is fairly new, the old one was doing the same thing. i changed out the idler tensioner too....i'll keep looking.. the engine has 200k on it.... tnx for your time..1derf |
