Okay, on your stock rims, I wouldn't go much bigger then that, however, if you went with wider rims, like 10 inch, you could go another size or two because the rim will stretch the tire a bit and allow more height, in fact you would need a little more to get the look you are going for. But if its a no on wider rims, then 245/70/r17 is as big as i would go.

Well, I dunno, but if it were me, I would find a set of rims that I liked, that looked close to stock, but if you are hung up keeping steel then i can only suggest finding a custom rim designer on the net, but it will be hard to find a company that will custom fab steel wheels. But I am curious, why not go custom? I mean american racing has some real cool rims that are quite inexpensive. I would check it out. http://www.wheelsforless.com/american_racing.asp Other then that bud, if you really wanna go big, I would check out cost of small lifts and such, that would give you the clearnace you are after. Its your call, but thats my opinion.

Hey just a thought here, not sure if it makes a difference, but if they are talking about rubbing on the inside of the fender when you turn the wheel, then why not try wheel spacers, then you could get a bit more clearance for the 31's if thats what you are trying to accomplish.

why not just lift it? if your not into big lifts just go with a body lift... 2-3 inches but if i were you i'd get a 6" suspension lift...i love mine and i can fit 37's under it if i really wanted to but i'm happy with 35"

I am with him, just a few CM in tire size never makes a big difference in the grand scheme of things anyways, I would lift it. Get a nice mean look out of it. And even though some guys here say body lifts are not the prettiest, if its done right, it will look okay, and with a 3in body lift you could just about fit 33's on the toy.... just an idea

or just go all out and get a 6" suspension lift thats where my vote is because that way you gain extra clearence for all of your extreme off roading needs lol

Please dont go with body lift, Its just my humble opinion. Everyone that has cut corners and used body lift instead of suspension lift have all wished thay had spent the money and done it right. I wont install one in the shop because i think they are a bandaid instead of a cure.
