| The valve lash is not to complicated. Once you get a couple of valves under your belt you'll be gold. On a side note, the Buick listed in my sig has adjustable pushrods, thats a pain in the ****. obviously can't be done when its running. that invovles rotating the engine after every valve to find the bottom side of the lobe. plus, its a real pain to work 3 wrenchs at once. 2 3/8" and 1 5/16". all have to be open-end too. But its done, and pulls hard to 5800 with no noise, and .520" valve lift...

| I had been away for so long this summer, I forgot i promised to post back with the results. The whole project was a mess! When we got the heads off, we saw so much carbon build up, we started cleaning. As we cleaned we found internal damage, I wont get into it really, but it was a mess! After two weekends, we decided to scrap it. The truck was not worth the cost of a new motor. Fortunately, where we got the new heads took them back. He ended up selling the truck to a guy who put in a 454 and lifted it. Still has it, rough shape body wise, but he likes it. He turned out to be a cool friend and we still see him from time to time. Shortly after my friend sold this thing, he found another old truck for a good deal. Bought a 85 Dodge D150. Uses it for work mostly, but has had no problems. I am sure each of you have forgotten this, but I was reading my old posts, and found this thread, so I thought I would share.

| Always wonder where these old project starts wind up, easy to become way more than bargained for. But at least this way I got to read the immortal words of wise-been-there counsel: You are gong to get dirty, you are probably going to burn yourself, and you may invent a couple of new words. you will not like doing this, and after it is done, you will not look foward to ever doing it again |
