 |  steering column swap out help i currently have a 1986 chevy 1/2 ton with a 4 speed in my trk and i am going to replace it with a automatic tranny the column that is in the trk has all the controls on it like the high low beam lever/wash wipe lever blinker and tilt and all the automatic column has on it is the blinkers the high low beam is on the floor the wipers go on the dash etc.can i switch the guts from one column to the other please help going nuts  Last edited by viperman; 04-29-2007 at 10:43 PM.  | I do not think you can. It might be easiest to get an inexpensive aftermarket floor shifter and put in place of the stick on the floor.

| I would not attempt that at all,you are trying to replace it with an earlier (78 or so)model steering column,find a newer one with all the goodies on it you will be much happier.I have thrown out I dont know how many of those columns nobody ever seems to be looking for one  |
