brake pedal pulsation

i'm trying to fix my sisters fiances truck. when you go to stop, the pedal litteraly pushes up on your foot about 3 inches. i replaced the front hoses that were about to rust in two and turned the rotors, yet i still pulsates. i jacked the front end back up and checked the hubs agian and still no play in them. the only thing i can think of is the rims need balancing, since i noticed the rims had no balancing weights. any help would be nice since i have never felt a pedal move like this.

How's the brakes in the rear? Maybe the front is stopping the whole truck without any help from the rear. Just a thought.

forgot about that part. i replaced the shoes in the rear also, the shoes on the driver side were pretty wore down. i still want to say it is the rims but the front end doesn't shake while going down the road. the pedal pulsates no matter how much force you use on the pedal. i do not feel any play or movement in the steering while trying to stop either. it has 285 tires on it with no lift but torsion bars may be cranked up, also has lack of power steering assist if that helps out any.

Did you have the drums turned? Any way, take a pair of pinch pliers and put them on each brake hose one at a time and go for a ride. once you pinch the hose (effectivily disabling the brakes) and the pulsation goes away you'll know where the pulsation is coming from.

I have the same problem.

I replaced the rotors, brake pads, calipers, bearings, hoses, balanced and rotated..........and it still pulsates, the steering wheel rocks back and forth, the truck shakes (violently sometimes) and it pulls slightly.

I am in a bind.....

yes i wire wheeled the junk off the pins and lubed them before i installed them. i also used an air hose and blew the pistons out of their bores and besides some minor flakes and black brake fluid the bores were clean. i also chipped about an inch of rust off the spindles and cleaned the dust shield because i could here scraping when i turned the rotors without the calipers on.

you know, for the life of me i can't remember if it has ABS, if so it is probably RWAL only.

no i have not turned the rotors yet, just replaced the shoes so far. i'm going to wait for him to get the tires balanced first and go from there. if that does not help i will try isolating the problem like you suggested skylark

check rear axles, one of the axles may be slightly bent, have some one follow behind you,if axle is bent it will look like the wheel is loose from behind.im just guessing, but i had a camaro with a bent axle that had the kind of pedal feel that your describing.

it will go away when you have the rotors turned. mine was the same way with all the symptoms. the rotors may look perfect, but it doesnt take much to get that wheel shake goin'
