Steering bump

Hi

I have read a similar post about the clunk- bump when turning. One of the posts suggested a search and I would find plenty of info, I must be using the wrong words cause there is nothing to find when searching.
Any way, I have a 2001 Silverado 40k miles. This bump in steering started at about 20K or so and was "greased" while in warranty. My question is where is the spot or location to grease to stop this. I do all my own work on my vehicles, but this location to grease is not readily recognizable. I've greased all the Zerk fittings in the steering linkage.
Could one of you guys let me know where to grease?

Thanks much.

You are looking at the wrong part of the steering linkage, and if you are loooking for a zerk, you will never find it, because one does not exist.
Most of the late G.M. guys have a problem with the steering shaft as it exits the column, and meets the rack. The splines inside become dry, and bind, causing the noise, and symptoms. It will drive you crazy looking for it. Remove the shaft, and apply some grease to the splines, and you should be good to go. I do recall reading that a replacement shaft was available with a coating to fix this, so you may check with your dealer.
Good luck....
