air bag light stays on 1995 1500

I have a 1995 1500 Chevy K truck V6 and the air bag light stays on. I do not know how to get the codes like my Mustang gives.

Can anyone tell me why it is staying on and what I need to do to make it go off and reset it?

Thanks

you will probably need to take it to the dealer to have the codes pulled. you will need more than the small obd2 code reader you buy at your local parts store. i don't even think the auto parts stores can pull those kind of codes.

just realized you have a '95, most likely it is obd1, not sure if you can pull those type of codes yourself.

why take it to the dealer? disconnect the negative battery cable for ten seconds and that should clear the codes. everyone depends on that stupid dealer. they overcharge and rip you off!

Thanks I will try this....had another issue today. I came home and my son said his truck would not start. The battery has 12 volts on it and when you try to start the truck the belt and alternator turns slow and only about one time and no more....what can be the issue?

clearing the code is not going to solve the problem, if there is something wrong then the light will just come back on. you need to pull the codes so you can fix the problem.

well first of all to fordguy if there wasnt anything wrong with it the computer would shut it self off so diconnecting the battery cable will only sovle the problem for a little while untill it turns back on larbec you need to find out why it went on it the first place although i dont think you have to take it to the dealer alot of smaller shops have computer that can check that stuff as for the truck not starting try chargeing it anyway you can have 12 volt but it might not be enough so give that a try and see if that works
