The dealer wants $60 just for the glass.
I think I can get a whole mirror at a JY cheaper though.....

Since it is the driver side, it does not need to be convex, so you can cut one yourself. A glass cutter, and some sandpaper will do you right. Just buy a couple pieces of mirror tiles from your local home improvement store, and practice. It cuts very easily, and the paper is used to clean up the edges, although a belt sander can be used, it will break the glass easily. Buy more than one tile if you are a first timer at cutting glass. you will be amazed at how easy it is to do. Should only cost you a couple of bucks.

While you are talking mirrors, I have a related question. Do you know of a cheap fix for a 'day-night' mirror gone bad ('87 Suburban)? I wanted to keep the day-night function. All the used ones I've found so far are as bad as mine.

Some were manual and some are electric. In 87 most were manual and to most vehicle are standard equiptment. They change to reflect the glare from headlights behind you from shining in your eyes. Should be a universal replacement available at local parts store.

They are crazy expensive. I have one in my old truck, and of course some in my new trucks. even the ones with the compass, and outside temp.
When you say fix, what are you refering to/ Did the liquid inside go bad? Is there a dark green line in it, or does it look like an old lava lamp?
Typically, when they go bad, they go bad, and I am not aware of a fix.

ooooh, i thought we were still talking side mirrors, now it makes sense. window tint is a cheaper fix, i hated flipping mine back and forth at night so i added the tint to the window.
