Squeaking Noise? I have a 2000 S10 ZR2, when I am driving around I can hear a constant squeaking noise coming from the driver's side rear wheel area. My foot is not on the brake either. It goes away when I stop or when I drive over 60 km/h. Does anybody have any ideas what this could be, or had a similar problem?

2000' disc brake rear????? Think it is telling you that you need new pads. Little metal plate installed on the pad designed to tell you, "i need to be changed, squeek, squeek, I need to be changed, squeek, squeek." Listen to it, or it will yel at you, "I should have been changed, grind, grind." You get the idea. If it has drums, could be the same thing, just gonna have to pop the drum off to inspect. Bet a cold beer it is from bad pads / shoes.......

Ok, so I changed the rear break pads and the roters. Then I was driving and I could hear a sound like clunk... clunk when I was driving slow. Took the tires off and took another look. I noticed that the calipers stay closed after releasing the breaks. Any suggestions? Do I just need to bleed the break fluid?

Perhaps the slider pins are dirty, and not allowing the caliper halves to move properly. May have to remove the caliper again, and clean / lube the pins.

how did you push the piston into the bore, you may have the type of emergency brakes that require the piston to be screwed into the bore instead of being pushed in. did you notice groves in your piston when you had it apart, if so then the piston should have been screwed in. also the pads should always have slight contact with the rotor to keep road junk off the rotors, unless you can hear the brakes drag while you spin the tire then you should be okay. worst case senerio may be new calipers.
