1996 Chevy Silverado Timing

How do you set the timing with the scan tool computer for a 1996 chevy silverado? Anyone know?

you can't set it with the motor running. You can read it with the scan tool then adjust it with the motor off. It is a trial by error type of deal. Timing should be 0*TDC +/- 2. Forgot to say you need a real time computer that will show the timing while running. A regular scan tool will not work unless it has a real time function. Hope this helps.
