There were claims of 60 hp gains from some of the 80's rides, but that was in a car application where cam profiles were quite a bit better than they are for trucks. That was also using pretty large LT1 style throttle body. I am not sure of your local emissions laws, but I don't believe the stealth is emissions legal. I think unless the engine was fresh, It would be a disappointment, that would net little power numbers. There are plenty of speeds secrets out there that would be a better investment than an intake. Just my opinion

| welll i was planning on putting higher ratio rocker arms if not a new cam and putting msd ignition, rotor, cap, and plugs to upgrade the fire i didnt get any horsepower info on it but it does come with biger injectors and higher pressure fuel pump so i figured if it was pumpin all that fuel and i had increased spark it would be a pretty stout improvement

That is provided an 11 yr old engine is not too tired. You could really spin your wheels (no pun intended) on bolt on stuff trying to make a tired old engine run beter, when it really needs re-built. How many miles are on it?

sorry, don't know anything about the holly setup. But I had to chime in on the milage thing. 120k??? A vortex engine is just broken in good at 100000 miles. I have one in a 88 pickup with 294000 miles that will smoke the tires off the rims and bury the speedo real quick and it has not been opened since it was built at the factory. Also, the oil has not been changed since before 200000. And it gets 21 miles to the gallon of gold/oline. I only wish they had hung a tranny on it that would last as long.

Barely broken in @ 100K miles. LOL! That is ammusing. The 96 Vortec, (not vortex) Is still considered a Gen I engine. It is a standard pushrod design with many of the same components used on the same 265 ci sbc introduced in 1955. Is it a great design, of course. Is it tired after a given amount of miles? Will a fresh engine run better than one with 100K miles? That should go without saying. The principles of compression, and combustion still apply, even in the beloved sbc with vortec heads. While I am not arguing with mooseye regarding his mileage, and the engines ability to burn a little rubber. I too have an old shop truck with almost half a million miles, and she too will still burn a little rubber, but it is still not as healthy as it could be if it was fresh. As for not changing the oil in almost 100K, that is entirely up to you, good luck with that. Maybe by the concepts of a vortec being just about broken in at 100K miles, we should start looking for used engines that have over 100K and have only had the oil changed once or twice. Yeah that would be a real find! I can see the add now: Barely broken in, 350 CI sbc, 100K miles has only had the oil changed twice, and still burns rubber. Hate to sell, but have to find one with more miles....... (I will let the guys fill in the rest) Bet plenty of people would be lining up to buy something like that. Alright not plenty, maybe just one.
